Raymond Family History
The Raymond Family began in the modest southern Parish of Natchitoches, Louisiana with the original Matriarch and Patriarch being sharecroppers, Mr. Robert Raymond (1876-1940) and Mrs. Sewella Raymond (1890-1933), who married in 1909. Of this union, twelve children were gifted to the two, Oscar Raymond, Eugene Raymond, Cleveland Raymond, Jessie (JC) Raymond, Nathaniel Raymond, Jefferson (Gent) Raymond, Norris J Raymond, Christen Raymond, Luberta Raymond, Alberta Raymond, and Mattie Raymond, and Dorothy Raymond. With this union and the blessing of 12 children, the family was steadfast in devotion to God, loyalty, respect, honor and protection of family. This family has overcome many obstacles, from the Great Depression, Jim Crow Error, and to the Civil Rights Movement. And from those hardships, the Raymond Family has prevailed and continues to grow and flourish with love and a commitment to family, the Raymond Family. What started as a union of two, has surpassed over 200 members of the Raymond Family, residing all over the USA, from Louisiana and California, to Georgia, Texas, Nevada and many more occupied U.S. territories and states.
As the family continues to grow, reunions have always been a part of our family rituals and expectations, remembering the past, celebrating the present and the future. We have taken pride in rejoicing together, relaxing together, and praying together. This is the Legacy that our very own, Mr. Robert Raymond and Mrs. Sewalla Raymond, have left us with. It is our duty and obligation to continue the legacy of our Mother and Father.
